Ship Inn FC
Season 2007 - 2008 sees the Ship's youngsters move up to division 3 following their success of promotion and cup winning feats of the past 3 seasons. Manager Colin Chappell has five new signings lined up for the new season and he's hoping Simon Cooke will solve the goalkeeping crisis of last season. Cooke previously played with Premier side Old Goole Vets as well as experiencing Unibond football with Goole Town. Chappell's other key signing has been centre-half John Turner whole played in the National Schools final at Villa Park. Portuguese/Brazilian brothers John and Paulo Rodrigues move into their forth season with the club and bring with them new Brazillain signing Ronaldo. Kurdistan star Kassan gives the side an international flavour and reinforces the clubs policy of being open to all. Paul Thompson will once again captain the side and is one of five players who have been with the club from its conception. Left- back Jonathan Hudson has raided his Selby College side to add a top goal scorer to take some of the weight off Dean Bussey, along with a centre- half and back up Keeper.
Friendlies have been arranged with the Ex Tigers (Hull City) and Scunthorpe United intermediate side, with the championship side showing interest in at least two of the Ship's youngsters. The management also hope to repeat last years friendly against top women's team Doncaster Belles who gave the lads something of a shock last year.
The season starts on the second Saturday of September and a full fixture list and weekly match report will appear on this site.
